It’s been a long few months…..

I think I could really just post the title to this blog and end it there and everyone would agree.  I know for some people this year has brought more then it’s share of hardships.  I know for my family it’s been a while since we’ve really just had the chance to catch a breather and truly relax.  Kaitlyn has had two major staph infections that have had to be cut out in the last two months,  Truett is just now starting to really like taking a bottle which is good because he lost a little weight in the beginning of all this, and business has hit an all time low for our company, etc. etc.

I know for many of you that read this blog that life has brought you some difficult times as well.  I would like to encourage you in the fact that as of right now God is with you.  For Kaitlyn and I during this time we are seeing that God is calling us to a closer walk and relationship with Him.  I believe that He is also stretching us to see if we will really trust Him with our lives, finances, health, etc.

I must admit that over the last couple of days I have spent a lot of time in tears.  As a couple, Kaitlyn and I have experienced great brokenness and I can sense that what we have experienced is just the beginning.  A few things I hold on too is that God IS faithful!!!  I know sometimes I believe that more in my head then in my heart, but I am really trying to get that truth to sink deep in my hard heart.

Another thing I am seeing God do is to balance out the many things that He is doing in my life.  I have the great opportunity to meet with many powerful people within our State and Federal government and I take that opportunity with great care.  I love my country and I love it’s history.  I believe that if we return to the teachings, ideals, and foundations on which this nation was built we will experience more prosperity and growth then we ever have before.  However, if we don’t I believe that the America we know will fall away into the pages of history as just another society that ran it’s course.  I pray that’s not the case.

The great thing is in all of this is that God is sharpening my vision to plant a church here in the Baton Rouge area.  I know I haven’t shared that here before but that is where Kaitlyn and I believe God is leading us.  Because I have spent a bunch of time in the political arena I have been putting the vision for a church on the backburner.  One of the reasons for that is because of the timing.  We believe we have a few years before anything really begins to happen as God is preparing us and the team He will send to us.

I must admit that I have spent a great deal of time in the political arena as of late.  It is now my understanding that I believe God is going to use me to teach the American Church the principles that built this great nation.  Most Christians today have no idea of America’s rich religious history and it’s high time we learn it before the very liberties we have will be taken from us.  For now I will do what I can waking up people to the American ideas that built this nation.  The ideals found in God’s Word.  I will also be behind the scenes preparing for our church plant.  I have also gotten a great opportunity in business that could really be a blessing, not only to me but to others as well.  I will be building that and sharing that with you, my readers as I can.  For now I hope I have cought you up to date on what’s going on in my world and pray that you are doing well also.  Until next time.

Much love,

Shawn

  1. I so enjoy reading your blog Shawn. My husband and I were both born and raised in Baton Rouge and moved to East Texas seven years ago. We went to HPC and were very involved. I will always remember my time there fondly, but I think that God wants to do a new thing in Baton Rouge and I will enjoy watching it unfold.
